Post 4266 Has Started a GoFundMe
VFW POST 4266, located in Parker, Colorado, is asking for your
help. We are currently trying to raise money for our own facility.
We currently meet at the Fire Station in the Pinery. By having our
own building, we can better provide resources to our Veterans.
Resources like suicide prevention, homeless care, job placement,
women's medical care, and rehabilitation programs.
VFW Post 4266 (Parker, Colorado) is a leader among all
Veterans and is dedicated to assisting all Veterans, their spouses,
widows, and children. With your help, VFW POST 4266 can build a
foundation to provide support and services to all Veterans for many
years to come.
We have started a GoFundMe page (Link below) to raise
money for our endeavor to establish a permanent post facility in
Parker. Our goal is to secure enough money to either purchase a
building, remodel a donated building, or build a brand-new facility.

Websites page are links to websites that provide information on
Veterans benefits and how to file or ask for them.
Accordingly, there are many sites that explain how to obtain books,
military / medical records, information and how to appeal a denied
claim with the VA. Please pass this information on to every
Veteran you know. Nearly 100% of this information is free and
available for all veterans, the only catch is: you have to ask for
it, because they won't tell you about a specific benefit unless you
ask for it. You need to know what questions to ask so the right
doors open for you and then be ready to have an advocate who is willing
to work with and for you, stay in the process, and press for your

Parker, CO - 31 Oct 2015 - Today, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post
4266 in Parker announced its support of Colorado Coalition for
the Homeless (CCH) to find housing for homeless veterans in
Colorado. The members of Post 4266 officially launched their
support on October 29th at CCH facilities at 25 East 16th
Street in Denver with a $5000 cash donation. The donation and
visit are part of a 3-point plan devised by Post 4266 that
includes fundraising, 'boots on the ground' mentoring and
a life-skills training program for veterans in CCH facilities.
According to the 2014 Homeless Assessment Report to
Congress there are an estimated 753 homeless veterans in
Post 4266 members Fred Faery, Gerard Brushaber, Mike Tarby, Floyd
Merenkov, Pete Solano and Post Commander Evan Totten visited with
CCH Veteran Program manager Petra Ulrych and 10 of the 39 veterans
currently housed in Renaissance at CCH's Civic Center Facility. Post
members and CCH veterans identified different needs both of the
veterans and the CCH facilities. Post Quartermaster and Viet Nam
Army veteran, Gerard Brushaber stated, "Some of the issues are
simply a matter of access to information and knowledge of how to
navigate different bureaucracies that support veterans. Post

While a financial donation and help navigating bureaucracies like
the Veterans Administration are important and welcome, 4266 members
and CCH veterans agreed that developing one on one relationships,
with direct contact and dialogue were essential. One CCH veteran
said, "Just a fellow Vet to talk to, or someone to help us network
to find longer term housing or a job, would be great."
There are an additional 12 veterans housed in another CCH facility
called Victory House. CCH also manages a transition-in-place
program that gets veterans into area housing at market rates with
the goal of the veteran eventually taking over the lease.
Pete Solano, Post 4266 adjutant and Operation Iraqi Freedom Marine
veteran, "For a small post like ours, it was a matter of homing in
on a specific, veteran-related need, leveraging our
members' experience and passion for helping veterans, then charging
forward to help. With support from us, and hopefully other VFWs
around the state, we hope to get to the issue of homeless veterans
to 'functional zero' in Colorado." Functional zero is defined as
having a system and capabilities in place to house a veteran within
24 hours of a request for service. New Orleans was the first city in
the U.S. to declare functional zero for homeless veterans and
several other cities and states hope to achieve that goal in the
Petra Ulrych, Program Manager for Veteran Services at Colorado
Coalition of the Homeless was grateful for the donation. "It's a
great way to give back both financially and also with the time and
talents of VFW members. I'm sure our residents will really enjoy
working along side other veterans on their path back to self
National Legislative Service
location of our Washington, D.C. office allows us to monitor all legislation
affecting veterans, alert VFW membership to key legislation under consideration
and to actively lobby Congress and the administration on veterans' issues.
Everything we do on Capitol Hill is with the VFW’s priority goals and veterans'
well-being in mind. With the strength of the nearly 1.9 million members of the
VFW and its Auxiliaries, our voice on “the Hill” cannot be ignored!
